Derivative, Crypto Products Big Winners in Harmonized SEC, CFTC, Ignites
March 13, 2026Partner Stacie Hartman was quoted in an article in Ignites about a new memorandum of understanding between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission aimed at improving coordination in areas where the agencies share jurisdiction, including derivatives and crypto assets. The agreement launches a joint harmonization initiative designed to reduce regulatory friction, clarify oversight of products and firms subject to both regulators, and support the development of a regulatory framework for emerging technologies such as crypto assets.
“The agencies holding joint meetings and providing joint input on new products would streamline the regulatory process and would not need to be limited to crypto,” Stacie said.
