SINGAPORE, October 6, 2022: Further bolstering the firm’s global investment management practice, Divya Thakur joins Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as a partner and will be resident in the Singapore office as of November 1.

“Singapore remains an important hub for financial services as we continually look to build on our more than 150-lawyer-strong investment management offering, particularly in Asia,” said Firm Chair Jami McKeon. “With her deep knowledge of international fund offerings and market terms, with particular experience in India and Southeast Asia, Divya will be instrumental in guiding our clients on structuring their businesses, product development, and investments.”

She has over 15 years of broad-based industry experience representing institutional investors and managers with particular focus on Southeast Asia and India. She also advises on operational, management, and compliance issues relevant for both advisers and the funds they manage. Divya is a welcome addition to the India initiative at the firm.

“Experienced in both closed-ended and open-ended funds, Divya brings a rare, valuable dynamic with her arrival,” said Tim Levin, who leads Morgan Lewis’s global investment management practice. “With a strong background of representing fund sponsors and investors in the international funds space with specific focus on Southeast Asia and India, Divya’s addition will be invaluable to our existing global funds platform. Divya will work closely with colleagues in related practices, including regulatory, tax, finance, and corporate to deliver world-class service to our clients.

Divya’s arrival follows that of litigation partner Pardeep Khosa, who advises on complex and multijurisdictional disputes across various sectors, including financial services. Earlier this year, the firm also added to its global investment management practice with the addition of a four-lawyer investment funds team in the United States anchored by partners Zeke Johnson and Brian Jacobson.

“We are delighted to add further depth in Singapore and the region, and specifically in our investment management team with Divya’s arrival,” said Joo Khin Ng, managing partner of the firm’s Singapore office. “Singapore also serves as a key gateway jurisdiction to India, and Divya has been successful in establishing international funds looking to invest into India and Indian funds structured for both inbound and outbound investment to and from India.”

Morgan Lewis has one of the largest and most diverse investment management teams in the world. From offices in financial centers across Asia, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, the firm’s lawyers advise funds, managers, financial services firms, and institutional investors on the full spectrum of matters, including formation, investment, transactional, regulatory, and compliance.

Other recent additions to Morgan Lewis’s Singapore office includes Kai Lee Lau and Rajiv Rai, who joined on March 1 with a focus on civil and criminal tax litigation, adding local Singapore tax capabilities to the firm for the first time.
