Dangerous Excitement: Human Trafficking During ‘Mega-Events,’ State Bar of Wisconsin
20 mai 2026The State Bar of Wisconsin cited a Morgan Lewis Insight by partners Ashley Lynam and Louise Skinner and associate Claire Lesikar in an article examining the growing legal and operational risks of human trafficking tied to major sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup and Olympic Games.
Quoting from the Insight, the article highlighted how plaintiffs, regulators, and other stakeholders are increasingly scrutinizing whether companies connected to large-scale events adequately identify and mitigate trafficking and sexual abuse risks.
“Mega-events involve thousands of temporary workers, volunteers, vendors, franchisees, and third-party partners operating across multiple jurisdictions. When responsibility is shared, accountability can become blurred, creating exposure across the ecosystem,” the authors wrote.
