CENTURY CITY, June 30, 2021: Morgan Lewis partners Debra Fischer and Harry Johnson III have been named by the Daily Journal in its list of Top Labor and Employment Lawyers in California for 2021. The annual list recognizes California lawyers who have made significant contributions to labor and employment law.
Debra has practiced employment law and unfair competition/trade secret litigation for 29 years, successfully trying cases in both California state and federal courts as well as in arbitration. Debra regularly counsels employers in all aspects of employment law compliance, risk avoidance, and crisis management. In the accompanying feature by the Daily Journal, Debra talks about her work on trade secret and unfair competition issues that arise when employees change employment and the litigation that often ensues from such departures. “The issues are time-sensitive, the stakes are high. It’s satisfying helping [clients] with their most important resource, their employees,” Debra said.
Once a member of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Harry now serves clients as a management-side defense lawyer, with more than 20 years of experience in traditional labor matters before the NLRB and federal courts. The Daily Journal’s feature highlights this experience, noting Harry is “naturally … called in for big matters.” Harry practices across the entire traditional union/labor field, including in NLRB unfair labor practice and representation proceedings, union representation campaigns, union corporate campaigns, labor arbitrations, collective bargaining, labor-management relations, labor-related advice for mergers and acquisitions, and federal and state labor injunction cases. Harry is the co- leader of the firm’s nationally recognized labor/management relations practice.
