EU Pay Transparency Directive: The Countdown Is On, HR Executive

Partner Louise Skinner and associate Margaret McDowell were quoted by HR Executive in an article examining the approaching compliance deadline for the European Union’s Pay Transparency Directive and its implications for multinational employers.

Louise emphasized the need for employers to proactively assess hiring practices and prepare for increased transparency, noting that “multinationals with European operations should assess whether current recruitment processes are compliant with the new requirements that apply during the hiring process.”

Margaret highlighted compliance challenges arising from varying US requirements, explaining that “some of the most consequential differences that we have seen be overlooked include which roles are covered . . . when the disclosure obligation is triggered and what information must be disclosed,” and cautioning that “the cost of getting this wrong can be significant.”
