Information Governance

Our eData lawyers guide clients through all phases of the information management lifecycle to provide practical business and legal solutions to their information governance challenges. Our lawyers advise Fortune 500 clients on privacy, security, retention, and disposition of information and data. We conduct risk assessments and assist in the development of internal information governance policies and controls. We are well-versed in global data privacy laws and regulations, and we understand the data protection considerations businesses face when US discovery conflicts with data privacy laws in other jurisdictions, and have assisted clients in navigating this issue in negotiated procedures and in the courts.

We also have developed General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance strategies and have served as privacy counsel to clients in litigation seeking cross-border transfer of data to the United States from the European Union under GDPR, including drafting protocols and protective orders, data minimization, and safeguarding processes to effectuate lawful transfer. Additionally, we have been retained to develop simplified record retention schedules and policies across most global regions, including the United States, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

Additionally, we provide advice on developing systems to manage data privacy, including new state laws, as well as data security, including breach response.
