For Dealmaking Firms, Data Centers Are Money Centers. Will It Continue?, The American Lawyer

Partners Barbara Melby and Andrew Ray spoke with The American Lawyer about the sustained surge in data center transactions and how law firms are expanding multidisciplinary teams to meet growing client demand.

Barbara highlighted the breadth of legal disciplines involved in modern data center deals and the continued pace of activity across the sector. “The number of practice areas that these types of deals hit are really phenomenal,” she said, noting that the firm is seeing “incredible activity” and expects demand to continue.

Andrew emphasized the increasing complexity of data center projects, particularly beyond traditional real estate considerations. “One thing to underscore: In some ways, the real estate is the easiest element, or the more traditional element, of a data center,” he said. “The complicated elements are what’s inside or beside the data centers.”
