The sixth installment of "Better Safe than Sorry" in 2025 will focus on the theme "Comparing Patent Infringement Remedies in Japan and the US." We are pleased to welcome Kenro Murai, patent attorney at TMI Associates, as our guest speaker. He will discuss various methods patent holders can use to effectively stop the distribution and sale of infringing products.
We will delve deeply into both theoretical and practical aspects, comparing and examining the differences in systems and practices between Japan and the US. This includes a wide range of methods, such as provisional disposition/injunctions, import detention at customs, injunctions using Standard Essential Patents (SEPs), and attempts to remove infringing goods from ecommerce sites. The discussion will incorporate the latest court precedents and specific cases encountered in practice.
This seminar will be held in a hybrid format, combining online participation with a live venue at the Kagawa University Industry-Academia Collaboration and Intellectual Property Center, which is supporting the event.
At the live venue, we will also provide a rakugo performance and networking opportunities after the seminar concludes. We understand your busy schedule, but we sincerely look forward to your participation.
